Why we make it
Knowing why a town sits where it does, or how long a local dish has been around, changes how the same street looks when you walk down it. But those stories tend to be scattered across tourist leaflets, municipal records and museum panels — almost all of them in Japanese — and they are hard to read up on before a trip.
Machibanashi takes the facts we collected, with sources, for a travel quiz app we are building, and rewrites them as a single story for each town. In the app, the same stories will appear as quizzes, and on the ground as notes about the places around you.
How the articles are made
We only write what our sources support. How we choose sources, how we use AI and how we handle mistakes are set out in our editorial policy. The English articles are written from the same checked facts as the Japanese edition (日本語版).
